When Winston Churchill was asked, whether the saying “A pat on the back builds character” had merit, he replied, “Of course, especially when it’s done early enough, hard enough and low enough”. Well, in our days we think differently about corporal punishment, don’t we?
After my two most recent newsletters about coconut oil, I did get encouraging ‘pats on the back’ from my readers. In one newsletter I had discussed coconut oil and ‘Colds and Sneezes – building a strong immune system for preventing the Swine Flu’ and in the other I talked about ‘Warm water and Heart attacks’; I received more responses than ever before with these two newsletters.

Thanks for your recent health letters. I previously thought that tropical oils, the white oil that comes from the inner hard nut that chocolatiers use in making chocolate candy was NOT good for a healthy cholesterol blood level.
When in fact, working in Cameroon as a health professional (nurse-midwife educator), over the years, I came to understand that the Cameroon villagers had their own Oil trees and they use the white oil for "medicinal" purposes -, giving a tablespoon or so to people with very high fevers. It is also used as a salve or lubricant etc. In most cases there is usually a small clay pot containing the oil that is kept in some corner of the kitchen ready to use when needed.
We also use it for deep-frying, or to make our own chocolate to coat our Christmas version of marzipan made from melon seeds.
